Celebrating 10 Years!
I met Precious J. Stroud a handful of years ago after receiving an invitation to a BlackFemale Project event. I was so impressed with her mission that I wanted to know more. Years later I am blessed to call her a colleague and dear sister-friend.
There is such brilliance in the work of BlackFemaleProject whose seed was planted by Precious, a compassionate and passionate advocate, particpant and storyteller. When you are in the presence of Precious, listen closely to her expressions of truth.
What BlackFemaleProject has become is what was necessary for the community it has created. Black women needing space to be seen. Unfortunately, those spaces are more rare than we want to speak out loud. And those spaces are for those brave enough to share and listen; to be affirmed and to heal; and to lift one another.
I am grateful for what and who I saw many years ago and for the opportunity to contribute what I can, when I can. For those not in the northern California Bay Area, know that you can participate from wherever you are. And if you want a little more of what BlackFemaleProject offers, let them know because Black women everywhere need what BlackFemaleProject offers.
